The e Learning initiative
Knowledge is both a resource as well as an asset for any educational institute. Effective knowledge management is imperative to enhance the quality of education towards harnessing the best of professionals for meeting challenges.
In the present age of knowledge explosion, it is inevitable to adopt advanced and state-of-art technologies for efficient and dynamic exchange of information in a knowledge society. Innovative methods in teaching have to be practiced to induce the students to pursue their academics with greater vigor and passion. A methodology is also necessary to update the students with current advancements in the academic topics over and above the information available in the books.
With this objective, an e-learning web site being initiated at Nehru Group of Institutions. This initiative is in tune with the knowledge management policy of the Institute. The vision is to ensure that the continuous charter of growth is ensured in building up the knowledge asset of the Departments along with the infrastructural assets. The efforts undertaken by the faculty in building up their individual knowledge base must translate in to Departmental and institutional knowledge asset. Enabling this requires adequate documentation of teaching inputs and information resources of interest to students. The approach will be two prong: a) to provide all necessary knowledge for the students towards understanding the subjects and to perform well in the examinations and b) to enhance the academic interests and motivate the students in their pursuit of knowledge beyond curriculum requirements.
The e-learning web site will be updated with information on a continuous basis and will be a dynamic site. After several iterations through dynamic interactions and with a few years of continuous update, the web site is expected to become a rich knowledge resource of benefit to the students. The site will also include features for interactive dialogues and for students to post their queries.
It is expected that e-learning web site will go a big way in promoting the academic interest of students and motivate them for higher education and research.
